Privacy Policy

1. The short version

Every StudentKit calculator runs in your browser. The numbers you type — grades, attendance, budgets — are never sent to our servers. We don’t sell data, we don’t run ad trackers, and you don’t need an account to use the product.

2. What we store on your device

To make the product feel personal without an account, we use your browser’s local storage for:

• Your theme preference (light / dark / system).
• Your favorites and recently-used tools list.
• Pending feedback you chose to submit (until it syncs).

This data never leaves your device unless you submit feedback, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

3. What we collect when you submit something

• Feedback (👍/👎 + optional message): the tool page, your rating and any message you write. Messages are stored to improve the product.
• Contact messages: your name, email and message, so we can reply.
• Newsletter signups: your email address, only if you subscribe. You can unsubscribe anytime.

If you include personal information in a feedback message, we treat that message as private — used only to understand the issue and respond if appropriate.

4. Cookies & analytics

StudentKit does not currently set tracking cookies and loads no third-party ad or analytics scripts. We use local storage (see section 2), which is not a cookie.

If we later enable privacy-conscious analytics (for example, self-hosted, cookieless page-view counting) or advertising, this policy and the Cookie Policy will be updated before anything is loaded. Aggregate, non-personal usage numbers may be collected to understand which tools help most.

The analytics pipeline, when enabled, is cookieless and batched: each event carries only allowlisted, non-personal properties (for example, the tool slug and a truncated search query), plus a random anonymous visitor identifier that cannot be traced back to you. You can opt out at any time by setting the sk:analytics-optout key to "1" in your browser’s local storage.

5. Accounts (when they arrive)

When optional accounts launch, the account data we will store is limited to what you explicitly provide: email, a password hash, and the content you choose to save (favorites, saved calculations, plans). You will be able to export and delete your data. This policy will be updated with full details before accounts go live.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. We share data only with service providers that run the product (for example, database hosting) under contracts that prohibit other use, or where required by law.

7. Data sources & accuracy

Tools that depend on external data (for example, currency exchange rates) will clearly state their source and update frequency. All other calculations are performed locally using documented formulas.
